Nextbook Thrives in Competitive Consumer Electronics Market

Manufacturer of Android Tablet Computers

OutTake: Successfully Launching and Supporting of Nextbook line of Android Tablets in a competitive market dominated by large consumer electronics companies.

Situation – Nextbook launched in 2010 at a time when many of large, established companies also entered the Android tablet market. The brand’s initial challenge was not having the Google Play Store (formerly known as Android Market).

Action – Copernio developed a regular, steady program of press releases, briefings and reviews of the early Nextbook tablets. The team also implemented a mom blog review program, helping to bring awareness and sales of the Nextbook tablets among women purchasers, the primary target market.

Results – Nextbook generated strong sales from 2010 to 2012, even without the Google Play Store. In 2013 when all of its tablets were Google certified, PR and sales took off and Nextbook was named Walmart’s “electronics supplier of the quarter” for Q1 2013. Nextbook has moved from an unknown brand to the leading Tier 2 supplier of Android tablets and continues to thrive as most other competitors have left the market.
